A couple of months back I heard a great idea on swapping babysitting. The jist of it is a bunch of couples switch off babysitting. So I came up with how it would work for us. We have 4 couples with a total of 10 children. Each couple takes one of the 4 weekend 'night's we chose' and watches everyone else's children on their night from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. So I get 3 free nights and on the fourth a house full of great kids. We've done it for about a month now and it's really worked out. You don't have to go out every weekend if you don't want to, but you do have to babysit on your night whether you go out on the other nights or not. I took the first night babysitting and this is how it went:
6:15ish pm Kids got dropped off
6:30 pm Popcorn popping and kids watching Aloha, Scooby-Doo (I love DVR)
8:00 pm Coloring pictures for the kids that got bored of Scooby-Doo
8:15ish pm Started Meet the Robinson's and more popcorn with sprinkles please!
9:15ish pm 4 big fire trucks pull up in front of the house (lights a flashing)
One of the little boys says, "Why are they here?" I said, "The neighbor must
have had a fire at there house." The little boy says, "Yeah their good at putting
out fires (while mesmerized by the lights)."
9:20 pm Parents show up wondering just which child started the fire ;)
9:30 pm Kids all picked up and time to send my own rug-rats to bed.
So all in all it was a pretty exciting time. The kids were great!
The kids seem to get a long very well with each other. The couples seem to really like it also. I just wish Billy could be here to actually go on a date......but that being said, I am very grateful for the break I get.
Thanks Girls for making it happen, Carla, Michelle, and Lisa!

Great idea. That might be a solution to a problem we are having here. Thanks for sharing.
And for all the talk about how Kevin was so sceptical, he LOVES it :). Isn't it funny how people can change their minds. I am glad he gave in and let me join you all.
Tara what a wonderful idea. Is the night of the week the same every week? I am just curious because that would be something that I think some of the ladies in my ward would love to do. Thanks for sharing.
Yes same time every week!
